During the Asia Cup 2025 clash between India and Pakistan on Sunday, Pakistan’s opening batter Sahibzada Farhan found himself at the center of controversy despite scoring a crucial half-century.

Farhan scored 58 runs off 45 balls, including five fours and three sixes, and also survived two chances during his innings. He completed his half-century by smashing a six off Indian spinner Axar Patel, registering his fourth T20I fifty.

However, his celebration overshadowed the achievement. After reaching the milestone, the 29-year-old batter made a gun-firing gesture, a move that quickly went viral on social media and was widely criticized. Many Indian fans accused him of deliberately provoking and mocking Team India and its supporters.

The incident has drawn sharper reactions given the tense atmosphere following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which has already strained India-Pakistan relations. Reports suggest that the Indian players even refrained from handshakes with their Pakistani counterparts after the match.

Farhan’s act has sparked outrage online, with many calling it a “shameful” gesture that goes beyond the spirit of the game.
