Neeraj Chopra, India's Olympic gold medalist, has been awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal. "Tokyo Olympics Gold medalist Subedar Neeraj Chopra of 4 Rajputana Rifles awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal on Republic Day," tweeted news agency ANI on Tuesday.
Neeraj Chopra, a javelin thrower, earned gold at the Tokyo Olympics last year. After Abhinav Bindra's heroics in Beijing in 2008, this was India's second individual gold in the Games. Last year, Neeraj received the country's highest athletic honour, the Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna Award.
