The 19-year-old claimed the bronze medal in the women’s 63 kg category after a hard-fought victory over the Netherlands’ Joni Geilen.

Chanambam had earlier faced a setback, losing her final Group D bout to Japan’s So Morichika. However, since Morichika advanced to the final, Chanambam got a second chance through the repechage round — which she capitalized on to clinch the podium finish.

Her achievement marks a significant milestone for Indian judo on the global stage.
