In chess, 18-year-old Indian Grandmaster Pranav Venkatesh dominated the FIDE World Junior Championship 2025 to claim the title in Montenegro last night.

Meanwhile, Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram won the prestigious Prague Masters in the Czech Republic last night. In the final round, Aravindh held a solid draw against Turkey’s Ediz Gurel to clinch sole first place.
He remained unbeaten throughout the nine-round event, finishing ahead of a strong field that included world No. 8 R Praggnanandhaa, Dutch GM Anish Giri, and Chinese GM Wei Yi. With this victory, Grandmaster Arvind broke into the world’s top 15.
