India advanced to the semi-finals of the ICC U19 World Cup 2022 after defeating Bangladesh in the quarter-finals.

India lost opener Harnoor Singh early in their chase for a short target of 112, but other openers Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Shaik Rasheed batted admirably to keep the ship afloat. However, with the score within striking reach, India lost wickets in a flurry, causing some concern.

Finally, captain Yash Dhull held his cool to guide his side to victory with five wickets in hand.

India had won the toss and elected to bowl first. Ravi Kumar was brilliant with the ball, taking three wickets for 14 runs in seven overs. He was named Player of the Match for his efforts in helping India win the game. Vicky Otswal, the left-arm spinner, continued his impressive performance with taking two wickets.

In 37.1 overs, India bowled out their opponents for 111 runs.

When India began their pursuit, it was evident that batting on this surface was difficult, as they lost their wicket as well. Harnoor came out well early on, while Bangladesh came back strong later, dismissing well-established Angkrish (44) and Rasheed (26). Siddarth Yadav (6) was also immediately eliminated, and Raj Bawa was unable to activate his account.

For a brief moment, it appeared like another twist might be added to this chase, but it was not to be as skipper Yash Dhull (20) and Kaushal Tambe (11) kept their cool to win the game for India. Kaushal brought the contest to a close with a six over long on Rakibul Hasan, the off spinner.

Ripon Mondal took the most wickets for Bangladesh, with 4 for 31 in his session.

On February 2, India will face Australia in the semi-finals (Wednesday).
