Earlier, resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 278 for six, India were all out for 404. Cheteshwar Pujara fell short of a century scoring 90 runs while Shreyas Iyer scored 86 runs. Ashwin scored a half-century.
For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan and Taijul Islam took four wickets each.
