In Ranji Trophy, Mumbai's Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande created history by becoming the first batters in 78 years to score centuries at number 10 and 11.

They achieved the feat during the quarter-final match against Baroda at the BKC Ground yesterday.

Chandu Sarwate and Shute Banerjee, were the first pair to achieve the milestone in 1946, while playing for the Indians against Surrey at the Oval.

Teaming up for the last wicket in Mumbai’s second innings at the overnight score of 337 for nine, Kotian remained unbeaten on 120, including 10 fours and four sixes while Deshpande fell for 123 with 10 fours and eight sixes. 

They amassed a remarkable 232 runs partnership, which is also the second best 10th wicket partnership in the Ranji Trophy. 

Additionally, the duo became only the second pair to achieve First-Class centuries batting at No 10 and No 11 in the same innings.

Meanwhile, India U-19 World Cup star Musheer Khan was adjudged the player of the match for his unbeaten 203 in the first innings.

Mumbai entered the semifinal as they took 36 runs lead in the first innings.

Mumbai will take on Tamil Nadu in the second semifinal at the same venue while in the first semifinal, Vidarbha will face Madhya Pradesh.
