As per reports, ICC match referee Richie Richardson has informed the Indian team management that Yadav’s post-match remarks might have violated the ICC’s code of conduct by bringing the game into disrepute. He could face charges for “conduct detrimental to the game.”
The issue stems from Suryakumar dedicating India’s win to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and expressing support for the Indian armed forces. He also mentioned that the team skipped post-match handshakes with Pakistan players, citing directions from the BCCI and Indian government.
On the other side, Pakistan players' on-field celebrations have also come under scrutiny. Shahibzada Farhan mimicked firing a gun with his bat after reaching a half-century in the first innings, while pacer Haris Rauf made a gesture resembling an airplane's take-off and landing during India’s second innings. Rauf also gestured “6-0” toward the crowd when faced with jeers from the boundary.
When asked about these celebrations ahead of Pakistan’s next Super 4s match against Bangladesh, pacer Shaheen Afridi said:
"Our focus is on playing cricket. Everyone has their own way of expressing themselves. We respect that. Our job is to perform and try to win the Asia Cup, and that’s what we’re working toward."
Pakistan currently stand with one win and one loss in the Super 4s. Their final match of this stage, against Bangladesh, is set for Thursday. The winner will face India—who have already booked a spot in the final.
