FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup, Australia, Belgium, Netherlands and England have entered the quarterfinals as group stage matches concluded yesterday.
In the last of the group stage matches at Rourkela yesterday, Australia swept aside South Africa by 9-2 while France and Argentina settled for a draw, scoring 5 goals each.
Belgium defeated Japan 7-1 and Germany won their match against South Korea 7-2.
The knockout matches will be played tomorrow and the day after.
The second and third-placed teams will need to play a crossover match to secure their berths.
Tomorrow, Malaysia will take on Spain while, India will play New Zealand. Meanwhile, Indian midfielder Hardik Singh has been ruled out of the World Cup after sustaining a hamstring injury.
