Asian Games Day 8: India adds one more gold and two silver medals

On Day 8 of the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, India added one more gold and two silver medals to its kitty taking overall medal tally to 41 this morning.

The latest gold came in the men's trap team shooting event. The Indian contingent, consisting of Kynan Darius Chenai, Zoravar Singh Sandhu and Prithviraj Tondaiman, helped India baged 361 points, which was enough to claim spot in the team event. In individual qualification, Kynan (1st) and Zoravar (4th) made it to the final. India also got silver in women's trap team event.

The team consisted of Manisha Keer, Preeti Rajak and Rajeshwari Kumari. But only Keer qualified for the final of the individual women's trap event.

In the women's individual golf event, Aditi Ashok bagged the silver medal. 

Meanwhile, title contender Jyothi Yarraji failed to qualify for the women's 200m final, after finishing third in her heat.

In athletics, Amlan Borgohain finished third to qualified for men’s 200 meter semifinal.

Later in the day, Tajinder Pal Singh Toor and Shahib SIngh will fight for the men’s shot put podium. 

India men's badminton team will take on defending champions China, in the final today. Indian women's hockey team is also taking on South Korea today in their second match of the continental showdown. 

So far, India took up its overall medals tally to 41, with 11 Gold, 16 Silver, and 14 Bronze at the ongoing Asian Games. India currently stands at the 4th position on the scoreboard.
