ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships: Shiva Thapa storms into final in 63.5kg category in Jordan

Six-time Asian medallist Shiva Thapa stormed into the final of 2022 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in 63.5 kg category in Amman, Jordan yesterday. Shiva was facing 2019 Asian Champion Bakhodur Usmanov of Tajikistan in the semi-final.

He will face Uzbekistan's Abdullaev Ruslan in the final tomorrow. Sumit and Govind Kumar Sahani both suffered defeats in their semi-final bouts and secured bronze.

In the 92kg category, semi-final bout, Narender suffered a 0:5 defeat against Mullojonov Lazizbek of Uzbekistan and ended his campaign with a bronze medal.

Mohammad Hussamuddin in 57 kg category who got a cut above his right eye in the previous bout couldn't take the ring yesterday and had to settle for a bronze medal.

Five Indian women pugilists including Lovlina Borgohain in 75 kg category and Parveen in 63 kg category will be fighting for gold in the final of the tournament today.

The other women boxers competing in the final will be Alfiya Pathan in 81kg category, Saweety in 81 kg category, and Minakshi in 52 kg category.

After the conclusion of the women's finals today, the finals for the men's category will be conducted tomorrow.
