Both Chahal and Gowtham were part of the eight players identified as close contacts of all-rounder Krunal, along with Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Deepak Chahar, Manish Pandey and Ishan Kishan.

As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, Chahal, Gowtham and the other six close contacts of Krunal -- along with the Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder -- will be staying back in Colombo, though the rest of the Indian squad are on their way back home -- as they return with negative tests -- post the end of the three ODIs and T20Is, each, on Thursday (June 29).

For the unversed, Krunal was shifted to an immediate care centre post his reports whereas the other six members were continuing to stay back at the same team hotel, although being placed at a distance from the other members.

As per sources from the SL Medical Authority, who told NewsWire, that India's Gowtham and Chahal had tested positive during the latest tests conducted by health authorities.
