South India’s 1st Doppler weather radar launched

Southern India’s first Doppler weather radar inaugurated on 4 August at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in Kerela’s Thiruvananthpuram.

The Doppler weather radar can provide advance information about storms, cyclones and other severe weather conditions.

This is India’s second C-Band Polarimetric Doppler Weather Radar(C-DWR) as the first was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Cherrapunji, Maghalaya in May 2015.
