The expedition team covered approx 700 Kilometers from Jaisalmer to Koteshvar over a period of eleven days
Adventure activity ‘Run to Rann’ was organised under the
aegis of Battle Axe Division at Jaisalmer, where team of 11 Individuals from
the Division participated and completed the journey. The expedition team
covered approx 700 Kilometers from Jaisalmer to Koteshvar over a period of
eleven days. Along the course the team carried out activities in various
phases, which included Cycling, Relay Run and Camel Safari.
Major GeneralRakeshKapoor, VishishtSeva Medal, General Officer Commanding, Battle Axe Division flagged in the team on 30 January 2020 at Jaisalmer. The team comprising of one officer, two Junior Commissioned Officers and eight other ranks, were trained in Jaisalmer Military Station which helped them to cover the long the long journey with enthusiasm and Zeal.
The aim of the expedition was to inculcate the spirit of adventure, physical fitness, self confidence and espirit-de-corps in the troops. The expedition reached out to maximum possible number of veterans and their Next of Kin and shared our gratitude for their unparalleledand selfless service to the nation.
In addition, data of Veer Naaris and disabled soldiers residing in these areas was collected and awareness spread about the benefits extended to them by the Army. An awareness programme about the armed forces to motivate the young school children to join the armed forces was also conducted at various schools enroute.
