Western Railway’s Travelling Ticket Examiner with his presence of mind and alertness proved to be a saviour for a 2 year old child.

According to a press release issued by WR CPRO Sumit Thakur, on 19th August, 2020, a couple Mr & Mrs Mohammad aged about 21 years, along with their 2 year old girl were travelling from Vapi to Surat in the second class coach of Train No 02955 Mumbai Central – Jaipur special. The couple along with the child alighted from the train at Surat station on platform no 1. They were walking ahead on the platform unaware that their baby girl who was walking behind them had fallen on the tracks near S-5 coach.

This was noticed by K S Solanki, Travelling Ticket Examiner of Western Railway who was manning S-3, S-4 & S-5 coaches. He saw that the train was about to start, since the alright green signal had been given. Showing his presence of mind he ran into the first cabin of S4 and immediately pulled the Alarm Chain to stop the train from moving and returned back to the spot, where the child had fallen

Solanki with the help of passengers remove the child and bring her safely over the platform. Thereafter, the family was attended by RPF. Solanki’s alertness helped to save the life of the little girl, for which the parents were highly grateful. In the past too, Western Railway employees have always gone beyond their call of duty to render their valuable services to passengers.
