Ganeshotsav is being celebrated in Vadodara city amidst the fear of Coronavirus. On the 7th day of Ganeshotsav, amidst the chanting of Ganapati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya, various Ganesha Mandals of the city including Panigate, Junigadhi and idols installed at house were immersed in eco friendly way.
Ganeshotsav is being celebrated in the city as per the guidelines of Covid-19. Even large Ganesha mandals are immersing the idols in a simple way. Ganapati idols installed at homes were immersed by people inside their houses and similarly on the 7th day the famous Junigadhi Ganesha and other idols installed at homes are immersed at the very same place with simplicity.
It is to be mentioned that Ganesha of Panigate Junigadhi is immersed on the seventh day of the festival. The procession is always a challenge for the police department to maintain law a order for peaceful immersion. But this time the ban on immersion of idols in lakes and other water bodies due to Coronavirus gives a relief to the police. However, as part of law and order, the security was tightened in the surrounding sensitive areas including Junigadhi.
Fireworks were also set off by some mandals and families during the ecofriendly visarjan of Ganpati idols. Some areas also witness Garba by people as they bids adeu to Lord Ganesha with chants of Ganapati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya.
It is to be noted that action is being taken by the police against people of violation of notifications during Ganeshotsav. A case was registered against the group of Dabhoi Road Mahanagar Society for violating the notification on Thursday night. On 7th day the city police had taken special care to ensure that the notification in place was not violated during the Ganesh visarjan.
