Won Best Debut Designer title at India Fashion Week

Students of Parul Institute of Design recently bagged the title of the Best Debut Designer at the India Fashion Week. They showcase their eco friendly spring collection at the show and impressed the judges and audience with their creativity and innovative style.

With ever growing environmental concerns the fashion industry is also taking active steps towards ensuring sustainable development. Taking the same concept in mind the Parul University students, Krima Patel, Kinjal Popat, Jeel Patel and Yukta Mehta made an outstanding display of fashion creativity.

Held from the 29th to the 30th of April, at the CIDCO Exhibition Hall in Mumbai, India Design Week is one the nation’s most glamourous platforms of creative designing. The collection which they designed, resulted in their success by winning the title of “Best Innovative Debut Designers”.

Based on the poetic theme “Peek a Boo”, the students made a mesmerising collection filled with innovative surprises and modern expectations. Making full use of the upcycling method, an eco friendly way of fabric designing the students give a much needed sustainable environmental appeal to the fashion industry. The collection, decorated with the most ravishing floral designs, and fabric techniques such as frills, tucks, cuts and slash and was truly a creative delight for the audience and leading the expert designers present during the exhibition. The team won the title of Best Innovative Designers for expressing their fresh thinking and groundbreaking designs.

“When we began making our collection for the India Design Week, we wanted to make something extraordinary, so we simply put together all that we have learnt from our faculties, and applied it into context of the real world issues. Environment is one of such issue and we decided to design something that was eco friendly” said Ms Krima Patel. The students were mentored by their professors Palak Patel and Swati Sohani and continuing their trail of excellence from their State award in Ahmedabad to this national award in Mumbai.

“Seeing our students on such great platforms brings me a great delight, as it serves as a testimony of how the education Parul University is imparting, is serving public utility. Encouraging such unique student talent and innovation is what we will continue doing, as it will allow the students the chance to explore all the endless possibilities n their abilities,” said Dr Parul Patel, managing trustee of Parul University. The students will go on to showcase their spring collection on the various stages and platforms to come.
