Automobile giant Maruti Suzuki India Ltd announced a 30 per cent rise in overall wholesales for December 2024, reaching 1,78,248 units, compared to 1,37,551 units in December 2023.
In its regulatory filing, on Wednesday, the company reported that its overall domestic sales, including light commercial vehicles and supplies to Toyota Kirloskar Motor, rose 24.44 per cent to 1,32,523 units last month, up from 1,06,492 units in the same period the previous year.
Total domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales stood at 1,30,117 units in December 2024, marking a 24.18 per cent growth compared to 1,04,778 units in December 2023.
Sales of mini cars, including the Alto and S-Presso, surged to 7,418 units last month, a sharp rise from 2,557 units in December 2023.
Similarly, compact cars such as the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR registered sales of 54,906 units, up from 45,741 units in the year-ago period.
Utility vehicles, comprising models like the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6, recorded 55,651 units in December 2024, an increase from 45,957 units in December 2023.
However, sales of the mid-sized sedan Ciaz dipped slightly to 464 units, compared to 489 units sold in December 2023.
