Surat Industrialist Buys ₹13.81 Lakh ‘0001’ Plate for ₹6 Crore Lamborghini

Surat has once again reinforced its reputation as a city of automobile enthusiasts after a record-breaking bid at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) auction for the new ‘JX’ series. In a high-profile bidding war, prominent industrialist Paresh Khandelwal, founder and managing director of Yashvi Group, secured the coveted ‘0001’ registration number for his Rs.6 crore Lamborghini by paying a staggering Rs.13.81 lakh — the highest amount ever recorded for a single number plate in the history of the Surat RTO. The ‘0001’ number emerged as the centre of attraction in the auction, drawing intense competition from several wealthy bidders before Khandelwal sealed the deal with his record offer.

Interestingly, the amount spent on the number plate alone is equivalent to the cost of a premium sedan or SUV for many middle-class families. Known for his passion for luxury cars and exclusive registrations, Khandelwal has a fleet that includes BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Range Rover vehicles, most bearing the ‘0001’ mark. Last year, he had paid Rs.11.95 lakh for the same number in the ‘RZ’ series for his Rs.2.70 crore Range Rover, effectively breaking his own record this time. The auction also saw strong demand for other fancy numbers, with ‘9999’ fetching Rs.3.62 lakh and ‘0007’ going for Rs.3.01 lakh, among several others attracting competitive bids.

 RTO officials confirmed that the scale of bidding in the JX series shattered all previous records, highlighting the growing craze for premium vehicle numbers in the city. Beyond business, Khandelwal is also known for cultural and social initiatives through Yashvi Foundation and has remained in public discussion over recent events linked to community programmes. However, it is his latest record-setting purchase that has now become the talk of Gujarat’s automobile circles, underlining Surat’s unmatched enthusiasm for luxury and prestige.
