A reimagined strategic partnership — one that reflects the new global geopolitical and economic climate, and offers both sides a path beyond traditional frameworks.

Russian President Vladimir Putin concluded his two-day state visit to India on December 5, 2025, departing from Delhi's Palam Technical Airport after summit talks with Prime Minister Mrs.Narendra Modi. The visit focused on strengthening trade, defence, energy, and strategic ties between the two nations. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar bid him farewell at the airport.

Putin arrived in Delhi on December 4, received by Modi at Palam Airport, followed by a private dinner hosted by the Prime Minister. On December 5, he attended a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan, met President Droupadi Murmu, held bilateral talks at Hyderabad House, and visited Rajghat.

The leaders witnessed the exchange of several bilateral agreements, including a roadmap for strategic economic cooperation until 2030, amid bilateral trade reaching USD 63.6 billion in 2024. Discussions covered defence deals like S-400 deliveries, Su-30 upgrades, and potential S-500 systems, plus uninterrupted Russian energy supplies to India.

Modi gifted Putin items such as Assam black tea, silverware, a marble chess set, Kashmiri saffron, and the Srimad Bhagavad Gita in Russian. Modi emphasized the time-tested India-Russia friendship, while Putin highlighted India's economic growth and reliable energy partnerships.
