Red Fort, Temples on Radar: Agencies Intensify Surveillance After Terror Plot Report

Security agencies have issued a high alert after intelligence inputs suggested that Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba may be planning an improvised explosive device (IED) attack targeting prominent locations in Delhi, including the historic Red Fort and a temple in Chandni Chowk, along with other major religious sites across the country.

According to sources cited by ANI, the group is allegedly seeking to avenge the February 6 attack on a Shia mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan, which left 31 people dead and over 160 injured. Intelligence officials have warned that key temples and high-footfall public areas could be on the radar, prompting enhanced surveillance and tightened security arrangements nationwide.

The alert comes just three months after a deadly car explosion near the Red Fort Metro station on November 10, 2025, in which 12 people were killed and nearly two dozen injured; DNA reports had identified the driver as Umar Mohammad, alias Umar Un Nabi, a doctor associated with Al-Falah University. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any potential threat and have urged the public to remain vigilant.
