A tragic incident has shaken the Indian community in the United States. A 24-year-old student from Hyderabad, studying in Albany, New York, has died after sustaining severe burn injuries in a house fire.     

According to the information received, a devastating house fire in Albany, New York, has claimed the life of Sahaja Reddy Udumala, a 24-year-old Indian student who was pursuing her Master’s degree in the city. The fire erupted on December 4, rapidly engulfing the residence and prompting an immediate response from local police and fire-fighting teams.Four adults were found inside the burning home. Sahaja was critically injured, suffering burns over 90 percent of her body. She was immediately shifted to a burn treatment centre, but despite all medical efforts, she succumbed to multiple organ failure.

Her relatives have launched a Go Fund Me fundraiser to meet the costs of repatriation, funeral arrangements, and other emergency expenses. The campaign has seen overwhelming support, raising over 109 thousand dollars toward its 120-thousand-dollar

The Consulate General of India in New York has confirmed her death and expressed heartfelt condolences. Officials say they are assisting the family with all necessary procedures and coordination.

Originally from Hyderabad, Sahaja had travelled to the United States to pursue higher education and build a promising future. Her sudden and tragic passing has shocked friends, classmates, and the wider Indian Diaspora.
