No Orphan Left Behind: Gujarat Launches Strong Social Security Shield for Children.

The Gujarat government has strengthened its social welfare framework by rolling out the Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana, a comprehensive social security scheme aimed at protecting orphaned children—especially daughters—from financial distress and social vulnerability.

Under the scheme, orphaned children receive a monthly stipend of Rs.4,000 until the age of 18, which is increased to Rs.6,000 per month for those pursuing higher education up to 21 years of age, ensuring continuity in schooling and skill development. Orphaned daughters are further supported with a one-time marriage assistance grant of Rs.2 lakh, along with priority benefits under the Kunwarbai’s Mameru Scheme.

The initiative also guarantees priority admission to Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, state-funded hostel facilities, and preferential access to education loans for studies in India or abroad. Applications are processed through Gujarat’s e-Samaj Kalyan digital portal with direct benefit transfer to ensure transparency and timely support, marking a significant step by the state towards ensuring that no orphaned child is deprived of dignity, education, or a secure future.
