Deadly Chinese Manja Bust: Massive Rs.2.34 Crore Stock Seized, Factory Raided.

In a major crackdown on the deadly Chinese manja trade, police have seized razor-sharp kite string worth an estimated Rs.2.34 crore, exposing a large and well-organised illegal supply chain that posed a serious threat to public safety ahead of the kite-flying season.

Acting on precise intelligence, law-enforcement teams conducted a high-stakes raid on a factory in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, uncovering massive stocks of finished Chinese manja, spools ready for distribution, and large quantities of raw materials used in its manufacture.

Officials described the haul as one of the biggest in recent years, warning that the banned manja—often coated with glass and chemical adhesives—has been responsible for multiple fatal and grievous injuries to pedestrians, two-wheeler riders, and birds. The seizure has sent shockwaves through illegal manufacturing and distribution networks operating across state lines, with investigators now probing links to suppliers, financiers, and interstate transport routes feeding markets in Gujarat and beyond.

Police sources said the operation likely averted potential festival-season tragedies, reiterating that strict action will continue against those who profit from the prohibited kite string despite repeated bans and public safety warnings, as the investigation widens to identify all those involved in the dangerous racket.
