Dhurandhar’ Leaves Rivals Behind, Storms Past Rs.1,050 Crore Worldwide in Just 24 Days.
The Indian box office in the final week of December 2025 has been decisively dominated by the unprecedented success of Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller Dhurandhar, which has emerged as a once-in-a-generation blockbuster, completely reshaping the holiday release landscape. As of Monday, December 29, the Ranveer Singh–Akshaye Khanna starrer has officially become the biggest Indian film of 2025, storming past historic benchmarks in its fourth week with a staggering Rs.730.70 crore India net collection, making it the first Hindi film ever to cross the Rs.700-crore mark domestically.
Its worldwide gross now stands at Rs.1,100.23 crore, and on Sunday (Day 24), the film overtook the lifetime global earnings of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan (RS.1,055 crore) and Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 AD (Rs.1,054 crore), cementing its place among the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. With daily collections still hovering above Rs.24 crore, Dhurandhar is now aggressively chasing Jawan’s Rs.1,160-crore global haul, positioning itself to become the sixth highest-grossing Indian film in history if current momentum continues.
Meanwhile, Hollywood release Avatar: Fire and Ash, James Cameron’s third outing in the franchise, continues to display strong holiday legs, posting a global total of $760.40 million (approximately Rs.6,350 crore) after its second weekend. While its opening was softer than The Way of Water, the film is holding steadily and is projected to cross the $1-billion mark globally within the coming week. In India, the sci-fi epic is inching toward the Rs.200-crore milestone, currently standing at Rs.168 crore after 10 days, reaffirming the franchise’s pull among Indian audiences.
In sharp contrast, the Christmas release Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, has been decisively overwhelmed by the twin dominance of Dhurandhar and Avatar 3. Despite an extended four-day holiday weekend, the film managed just Rs.23.87 crore India net, with Sunday collections dipping to Rs.5.37 crore, an alarming trend for a festive release.
Mixed word-of-mouth and relentless competition have pushed the film firmly toward box-office disappointment, underscoring how the Dhurandhar wave has left little breathing room for mid-scale releases during the year-end window.
