Food Poisoning Scare at Railway Training Institute: 80 Trainees Hospitalised in Bhusawal.
A major health scare unfolded at the Zonal Railway Training Institute (ZRTI) in Bhusawal, Maharashtra, early on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, when between 60 and 80 railway trainees were hospitalized following a suspected case of food poisoning.
The incident began around 2:00 AM, when several trainees suddenly complained of severe vomiting, nausea and dizziness, with the number of affected rising rapidly within a short span. Railway authorities rushed ambulances to the R.P.D. area campus and shifted all ill trainees to the Railway Hospital in Bhusawal for immediate medical attention.
According to V.K. Samadhiya, Vice President of the Central Railway Mazdoor Sangh, the situation is now under control and all hospitalized trainees are stable and under observation, with no reports of serious or life-threatening complications.
Preliminary findings point to food served at the institute’s mess on Monday night as the likely cause, especially as trainees had earlier flagged concerns over food quality. Railway officials have launched a formal inquiry, inspected kitchen facilities, and sent food samples for laboratory analysis to determine the exact source of contamination, even as authorities assured strict action if negligence is established.
