Indian Team in Lockdown Mode as BCCI Bars Families During T20 World Cup.

The BCCI has officially prohibited the families of Indian cricketers from staying with the team during the 2026 T20 World Cup, adhering to a strict discipline policy established after the 2025 Australia tour.

Introduced after the 2025 Australia tour, the guideline reflects the BCCI’s renewed focus on discipline, minimizing distractions, and ensuring players remain fully concentrated on performance during high-pressure global events. Under these current guidelines, family members are only permitted to stay with players for a maximum of 14 days during tours exceeding 45 days; since this tournament does not meet that duration, the board denied the team management's request for an exception. While families are free to travel and attend matches independently, they are strictly barred from team hotels and player accommodations.

To maintain focus and peak fitness, the Suryakumar Yadav-led squad is travelling via private charters and utilizing personal chefs for specialized meal deliveries, ensuring that all off-field distractions are minimized as India navigates high-stakes matches across India and Sri Lanka, including the highly anticipated clash against Pakistan in Colombo.
