Bengaluru iPhone Factory Rockets to 30,000 Hires, Exports Surge.

Foxconn’s new iPhone assembly plant in Devanahalli, Bengaluru, has achieved a remarkable milestone by hiring nearly 30,000 workers in just 8 to 9 months, marking one of the fastest factory ramp-ups in India’s history. The facility, a key part of Apple’s global supply chain strategy, is already assembling the flagship iPhone 17 Pro Max models, with over 80% of the output destined for export.

Remarkably, around 80% of the workforce is women, mostly aged 19–24 and entering formal employment for the first time. The plant began trial production of the iPhone 16 in April–May 2025 and has rapidly transitioned to the latest series. With continued expansion, the headcount is projected to reach 50,000 by 2026, potentially making it the largest single-location employer of women in India.

Spread across 300 acres with an investment of Rs.20,000 crore, the campus features multiple operational dormitories and is being developed into a “mini township” with medical, educational, and recreational facilities.

Fueled by India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, the Bengaluru plant underscores India’s growing role in Apple’s global manufacturing, complementing Foxconn’s other major facility
