Retired IAS Officer’s Premises Searched as ACB Intensifies Probe into Multi-Crore Rural Water Scheme Scam
In a sweeping anti-corruption operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted coordinated raids across Rajasthan and several other states in connection with alleged irregularities in the Jal Jeevan Mission. Searches were carried out at multiple locations linked to retired IAS officer Subodh Agarwal, who is under scrutiny for his alleged role in the multi-crore scam involving drinking water supply projects.
Officials said ACB teams examined residential and office premises, seizing documents, digital records, and financial details suspected to be linked to tender manipulation, inflated contracts, and misuse of public funds. The investigation reportedly centers on alleged favoritism in awarding contracts and possible financial irregularities in the execution of rural water schemes.
Sources indicated that the action follows months of preliminary inquiry and collection of documentary evidence. Authorities are now analyzing seized materials to trace money trails and determine the extent of involvement of officials, contractors, and intermediaries.
The Jal Jeevan Mission, a flagship central scheme aimed at providing tap water to rural households, has come under scanner in Rajasthan after complaints of large-scale procedural violations and cost escalations. The ACB has stated that further action, including summons and possible arrests, will depend on findings from the ongoing investigation.
