Over 760 Flights Cancelled in India Amid Middle East Crisis; PM Modi Assures Safety of Citizens Abroad
India’s aviation sector has been significantly disrupted as over 760 flights were cancelled across the country in the past two days due to rising tensions in the Middle East. The cancellations, affecting major domestic and international carriers including Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet, have impacted thousands of passengers at key airports such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Many international flights, particularly those bound for West Asia, were either suspended or rerouted following airspace restrictions and safety advisories issued by authorities in the region.
In response to the crisis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that the government is closely monitoring the situation and is committed to safeguarding the interests of Indian citizens abroad. He emphasized that India is working in coordination with global and Middle Eastern partners to ensure the safety and security of its nationals, particularly the large expatriate community in the Gulf countries. The Ministry of External Affairs and Indian embassies are actively engaging with foreign authorities to facilitate support, guidance, and, if necessary, evacuation of Indians affected by the conflict.
The cancellations come amid growing geopolitical tensions in the region, prompting airlines to take precautionary measures to avoid potential risks. Passengers are advised to stay in contact with airlines for updates, and authorities have promised to provide assistance for stranded travelers. The government continues to stress the importance of vigilance and is coordinating relief measures for citizens facing difficulties abroad.
