Bravely face the challenge of Covid 19 and aware people about taking safety measures against the pandemic

The monsoon is Gujarat has already showed it’s dangerous side as coastal areas have been badly affected by heavy downpour. Flood like situation has already arise in Kutch, Jamnagar, Dev Bhumi Dwarka, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Surat, Navsari and Valsad districts of the state. To deal with a total of 09 teams of NDRF have been deployed by the Relief Commissioner in the state.

Commandant of 06 BN NDRF, Vadodara R. S. Joon briefed the teams to engage in flood relief work keeping in mind the challenge of Covid 19 this year. All teams have necessary equipments like different types of cutters, generators, boats, satellite phones, State-of-the-art communication equipments to deal with any disaster. NDRF teams are deployed in Kutch, Jamnagar, Dev Bhumi Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Rajkot and Porbandar districts since 5th July.

On 07.07.2020, teams of NDRF rescued 02 persons in village-Nathuvada in district-Jamnagar and nine from flood affected Taluka-Dhrol and village-Zodia. In the same sequence, 02 people have been rescued from the floods in the villages – Thoyana, Taluka – Ranavav of district Porbandar. Also NDRF teams are constantly monitoring the situation by patroling the coastal areas.

Keeping in mind the Covid-19, due care is being taken by the teams of NDRF. The teams maintain social distance, sanitizing the area and own equipment and using personal rescue equipment such as masks, hand gloves in rescue operations. Local people who do not have masks and sanitizers are being provided by the team to reduce the effect of corona. Other than this the teams are also making people aware of the measures and precautions to avoid corona under public awareness campaign, informed Deputy Commandant R.K. Mishra PRO 06 BN NDRF Jarod.
