The event is held in association with Department of Handlooms and
Textiles, Government of Telangana State, Sponsored by Rashtriya Uchchatar
Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) 2.0 and organized by Department of Textile Technology,
University College of Technology(A), Osmania University. The event was
organized to commemorate the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of establishment year
of the university.

The “Gunny is not funny” project presented was focused on recycling
misprinted and discarded gunny sack waste into fashion fabrics suitable for
apparels. The waste was softened using eco-friendly softeners and initial
explorations were done in house on table looms. Later, the samples were
developed in collaboration with ‘Bhujodi’ weaver Syamji Bhai and ‘Tangalia’
weaver Jiten Bhai of Kutch. The project was much appreciated for its
sustainability and novel concept.
