Target to eliminate the disease till 2020

Government of India targets to eliminate measles and control the Rubela syndrome till 2020 from the country. Working on that Gujarat government jointly starts a MR vaccination for the children between age group of 9 months to 15 years.

Vadodara district health society also organise the drive starting from 15th July covering all government and private schools. Later it will continue like routine immunisation in villages, health centres and other places.

Giving the details about the drive Chief District Health Officer Dr. Uday Tilawat said they already approached and held meetings with the schools of Vadodara district. The MR vaccination will cover around 4 lakh children from 1372 schools and 1528 Anganwadis.

The drive starts from 14th July where the first four weeks it will cover the schools and later it continues to other parts. The target is to eliminate Measles from the country till 2020. The administration is spreading the message about the disease and the vaccination drive through various means and request the parents to come forward to fight against it.
