A motorcyclist was killed when he fell inside an open 25-foot-deep storm water drain at Makarpura GIDC in Vadodara city. After a great deal of effort by the fire brigade, body of the youth was taken out with the motorcycle.

As per the details from Manjalpur police station, Rakesh Govindbhai Chauhan (age 40), a resident of house number 47 in Chandravatinagar in Manjalpur area died after falling inside the storm water drain with a motorcycle.

During preliminary investigation it is found that Rakesh Chauhan was working as an electrician and his body was sent to Sayaji Hospital for post-mortem. The police registered a accidental death and further investigating in the matter.

The 20 to 25 feet deep rainwater filled storm water drain rain passes through Jayant Oil Mill in Makarpura GIDC area. The police team along with fire brigade rushed to the spot after the message about a motorcyclist reported to have fallen inside with the motorcycle.

 Fire brigade later took put the body and send it for postmortem. It is believed that the youth died after fell inside the drain filled with chemical mixed rain water.

Notably, many such drains are open in the city and during monsoons such incidents are always on the verge to happen. Many areas of the city witness such open drains and need to be closed before Rakesh like youngsters become victims of such tragedy.
