In pursuance of Indian Railways continuous efforts to provide best possible services & facilities to its esteemed passengers, Western Railway has added one more chapter in the development of railway infrastructure in the state of Gujarat. Under this ambitious step, Suresh Angadi Minister of State of Railways unveiled and dedicated the newly built satellite station building of Chhayapuri to the nation on 14th December, 2019 at Vadodara.

Speaker of Gujarat Vidhan Sabha Rajendrabhai Trivedi, Minister of State for Narmada and Urban Housing, Govt. of Gujarat Yogeshbhai Patel, Mayor of Vadodara Dr. Jigishaben Sheth and MP Ranjanben Bhatt, V.K. Tripathi – Additional General Manager of Western Railway, MLA Jitendrabhai Sukhdiya, MLA Manishaben Vakil, MLA Seemaben Mohile, Devendra Kumar – Divisional Railway Manager of Vadodara Division and various senior railway officer were present in the function at Vadodara.

According to a press release issued by WR CPRO Ravinder Bhakar, Minister of State of Railways unveiled the plaque of the newly constructed satellite station of Chhayapuri near Vadodara Junction. Chhayapuri station has been developed as a satellite station to serve as an additional station for city of Vadodara for trains running on Ahmedabad – Ratlam and onwards route. Considering the importance and passenger facilities that Chhayapuri station will provide to the area and nearby, Ministry of Railways has approved operations of 13 trains from Chhayapuri station from 17th December, 2019 onwards. Western Railway has decided to divert 13 important trains and these trains will be given stoppage at Chhayapuri station.

Bhakar added that Chhayapuri station will turn saviour for passengers and commuters in that area as it will ease the congestion of Vadodara station. Chhayapuri station has 2 full length platforms (for 26 coach trains) and 2 loop lines. Hence, the trains on Ahmedabad – Ratlam line and vice versa will not be required to undergo reversal at Vadodara Junction. This will save around 27 minutes per train and ease Vadodara station of congestion.

The total cost of the project is Rs. 50 crores. This will pave way for introduction of more train on these routes and also improve the punctuality. The areas surrounding the Chhayapuri station will see a spurt in development as the new station will open the doors to opportunities and convenience.
