MEMU train services between Pratapnagar and Kevadiya should be treated as fully reserved passenger trains instead of Mail/Express train starting from 20th January, 2021.

These MEMU trains are being run on the speed and schedule of Mail/Express trains, resulting in speedier mode of transportation. These train services will provide a cheaper and faster mode of transport in comparison to roadways for tourists visiting the area and local passengers.

Accordingly, the current fare of the MEMU train services between Pratapnagar and Kevadiya has been brought down to ₹ 35 per passenger which was earlier ₹ 60.

This newly commissioned section of Dabhoi-Chandod-Kevadiya (50 km), including conversion of the Narrow Gauge line to Broad Gauge between Dabhoi and Chandod (18 km) and further extension of new Broad Gauge rail line between Chandod and Kevadiya (32 km), the section between Pratapnagar and Kevadiya (80 RKM) has also been electrified. It will provide impetus to socio-economic growth of the region and seamless connectivity to the world’s tallest statue – Statue of Unity at Kevadiya. This will increase tourism at national and international level.
