In Vadodara for the first time mass samples are collected for checking after the male from Nagarwada was tested positive for Coronavirus. He used to feed people and as a precautionary step as many samples possible are collected by the teams for testing.

Vadodara district collector Shalini Agrawal said, samples of around 83 persons from around Nagarwada and Sayaji Hospital are being collected on Monday as a precautionary step. The collection of samples will continue on Tuesday as part of preventive measures taken by the administration.

Collector further said that the mass samples of family members and people are collected from densely populated Nagarwada Patel Falia and Saiyadpura for checking. The exercise is conducting in view to check if anyone came in contact with the positive patient who used to feed people in Nagarwada area of the city. State government health department very cautiously gave directions to take extensive test samples from the area for testing.

The area is currently under cluster containment and is fully locked down. Intensive surveys are conducting by the health teams to identify individuals with high risk and disease symptoms and put them under treatment.

According to information received from the Municipal Health Department, about 69 samples were taken from the affected areas yesterday and out of these, 64 samples have come negative. The people having negative reports has been placed under intensive home quarantine. Four samples are still under checking and one positive patient in under intensive treatment.

A further 23 samples were taken on Monday morning from the affected area of ​​Nagarwada. Intensive inquiries were made outside the Sayaji Hospital where the elderly positive patient used to feed the beggars and poor. Meanwhile samples of 60 peoples were collected for testing who confessed of receiving food from this elderly person. The positive patients will be admitted in the hospital and the negative ones will be kept under medical supervision in the home quarantine as part of precautionary measures.

Since this is a very densely populated area, the approach has been taken with the utmost precaution to collect as many samples as possible. In last two days 152 (yesterday’s 69+ today’s 83) samples were taken and the collection will continue on Tuesday by the Municipal Health Teams from the area.
