Major fire in Dahej chemical plant, Offsite emergency declared  

At least 600 villagers are evacuated to the safer place after a major fire broke out following an explosion in the unit of Sterling Auxiliaries Private Ltd located in Dahej special economic zone (SEZ) on Tuesday early morning.

The explosion occurred during the manufacturing process. It took about 20 fire fighters from Bharuch, Ankleshwar and Dahej to bring the fire under control but till Tuesday 9.30 am fire was not brought under control. Bharuch SDM Amith Yadav who rushed to the spot informed that an offsite emergency was declared in the area and for the safety reasons evacuation of the nearby villagers from Jageshwar and Ambetha village was also initiated. No causality reported in the incident.
