A huge fire broke out at Shivam Industries near Gothda village in Savli taluka of Vadodara district early in the morning. A preliminary investigation has revealed that the fire broke out due to increased pressure in the reactor during a chemical process. The company is into manufacturing pharmaceutical powder.
As per avaliable details the fire broke out with a huge explosion between 5 and 5.30 am on Friday. Golubhai, Girishbhai, Sirajuddin and Sujitbhai working on the fourth floor as well as Amarendra and Ramakrishna were found injured in the incident.
Four of the injured employees were shifted to Vadodara Sayaji Hospital for further treatment. Amarendra and Ramakrishna, who sustained minor injuries, were given first aid at Savli Jamnotri Hospital and discharged. Following the incident, Vadodara Savli Road was closed for vehicular traffic. Police tried to ease the traffic by diverting some vehicles through other villages.
A large number of people from nearby villages, including Gothda village, rushed to the spot following the blaze. The Savli Vadodara road was buzzing with fire brigade vehicles, ambulance sirens and police as well as administrative vehicles following the early morning incident. As part of security, people living in an area of five kilometers around the company were evacuated to a safe place.
As per information received, the fire was brought under control after a five-hour operation. However, firefighters are trying to contain the blaze as smoke still comes out from the fire area.
