Additional buses are planned by the State Transport system to facilitate the movement of people during the Diwali festivities. Additional buses will run to Saurashtra, Kutch, South Gujarat and Godhra, Dahod during Diwali. The Vadodara ST department has planned to run 405 buses on all bus routes during the Diwali vacation. While extra buses are also planned to run towards Surat.
Ramesh Patel, Assistant Traffic Superintendent, Vadodara ST Department, said that a further 45 buses are planned to run and Pilgrimages like Ambaji and Pavagadh are organized by Panchmahal District ST Department. On normal days 60 to 65 passengers travel, however 90 thousand to 1 lakh people travel during Diwali festivals.
Assistant Traffic Superintendent Dharmendrabhai Khat said that in view of Diwali, additional ST buses have been planned this year as well. In which 8-8 buses have been ordered from Padra, Karjan, Dabhoi, Chhotaudepur, Bodeli and Waghodia ST depots coming under Vadodara ST division. If there is a need for more buses, the buses of student trips will also be used as there is a vacation in schools and colleges.
ST department like every year planned to run extra buses on different routes across the state. According to the official sources of the ST Corporation, more than 1500 extra buses will be run by the ST Corporation across the state including Vadodara from 29 to 4-10. Additional buses will be operated especially from Surat. During Diwali, Vadodara ST Department has made a definite plan to maintain 24-hour ST facility to meet the influx of passengers.
