Tamil Nadu under heavy rain spell; North India also faces weather challenges
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) report, 39 areas in southern Tamil Nadu have encountered exceptionally heavy rainfall
Tamil Nadu is experiencing severe disruption due to intense rainfall. Heavy rains on December 18 have led to widespread flooding in Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts. Responding to the crisis, the Indian Air Force and Indian Army have initiated rescue operations.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) report, 39 areas in southern Tamil Nadu have encountered exceptionally heavy rainfall.
The forecast indicates continuation of heavy rain on December 19 in districts, such as Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Tenkasi.
Further, temperatures have dropped tremendously in several regions across the country, with Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh experiencing snowfall.
IMD has also said to expect light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday, with precipitation anticipated in a few locations in south Tamil Nadu.
Additionally, there may be rain at one or two places in North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected to occur at one or two places during this period.
