Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off two new Vande Bharat trains from Mumbai today, one to Shirdi and the other to Solapur.
Mumbai-Solapur Vande Bharat will facilitate travel to important pilgrimage centres like Siddheshwar in Solapur, Akkalkot, Tuljapur, and Alandi near Pune.
While the Mumbai-Shirdi Vande Bharat Express will improve the connectivity of important pilgrimage centres in Maharashtra like Nashik, Trimbakeshwar, Sainagar Shirdi and Shani Shingnapur.
Vande Bharat trains are India’s first indigenous Semi High-Speed train.
The Vande Bharat Express can run up to a maximum speed of 160 kmph and has better passenger amenities. It aims to provide a totally new travel experience to passengers.
A product of the Make In India vision, the major systems of the train have been designed and built in India.
During his visit to Mumbai, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road section and Kurar underpass to the public.
He will also inaugurate the new campus of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah at Marol in the western suburbs of Mumbai.
Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah is an educational institution of the Dawoodi Bohra Muslim Community. It works to protect the learning traditions and literary culture of the community.
