Ahmedabad-Delhi bullet train to cut travel time to 3.5 hours
This new project will connect Ahmedabad to Delhi, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its manifesto promised one bullet tain each for north, south, and east India. As of now just one bullet train project - Ahmedabad to Mumbai - is under construction in the West India.
Another bullet train project is set to be built in the Ahmedabad-Delhi route. Incidentally, this will be Gujarat's second high-speed rail project.
This new project will connect Ahmedabad to Delhi, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities.
The high-speed train is expected to operate at an average speed of 250km/hour on an elevated corridor, cutting down the current 12-hour journey to just 3.5 hours.
The detailed project report, recently finalized by the railways, outlines the route which includes key stations such as Himmatnagar, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Ajmer, Kishangarh, Jaipur, Rewari, and Manesar.
The proposal for the Ahmedabad-Delhi bullet train is part of the government's plan to introduce high-speed rail projects in different regions of India, with the aim of improving connectivity and boosting tourism.
The National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRC) initiated the bidding process for the final alignment design of the line in September 2020, utilizing aerial LiDAR surveys to expedite the planning phase.
The project is now awaiting approval from the Centre to proceed further.
The nearly 900km elevated corridor between Ahmedabad and Delhi is expected to save travelers around nine hours of journey time.
