Kheer is a classic Indian dish that is apt for all festivals and special occasions.

Traditionally, Kheer is prepared using rice, milk and sugar, but in this recipe, we will give the recipe a healthy twist by preparing it with ingredients like Oats, Honey, Milk, Orange and Carrot.

The combination of orange and carrot provides different flavours to the dessert.

For garnish, we have added some chopped almonds, however, you can use your favorite nuts as well.

For individuals observing the fast during this period, Sehri is a crucial meal consumed before sunrise that provides the necessary nourishment and energy, to keep you going.

2 Servings

15 gm oats

300 ml skimmed milk

50 gm grated carrot

1 green cardamom

1 teaspoon orange zest

5 chopped almonds

1 teaspoon honey

Step 1 / 6 Roast The Oats

Add oats to a pan and dry roast them for a few minutes while stirring continuously. Once done, take them out on a plate.

Step 2 / 6 Boil The Milk

Add skimmed milk to a pot and keep it on medium flame. Let it come to a boil.

Step 3 / 6 Add Carrots

Add grated carrots to the boiling milk and lower the flame. Let it cook for 10 minutes.

Step 4 / 6 Add Oats

Now add oats to the pot and give a good mix. Let the kheer cook till it thickens.

Step 5 / 6 Add The Final Ingredients

Crush the green cardamom and take out the seeds. Crush the seeds and add to the oats. Also add honey, orange zest and chopped almonds. Cook for last 2 minutes and switch off the flame.

Step 6 / 6 Ready To Be Served

Your ​Orange Carrot Kheer is now ready to be served. Enjoy either hot or chilled.
