Nippattu is a popular tea-time snack from South India, which is very similar in flavour to Murukku and Chakali. It is more famous in the state of Karnataka and can be prepared with just a handful of ingredients.
You just need peanuts, chana dal, rice flour, sooji, refined flour, hing, cumin, sesame seeds, curry leaves, red chilli powder, salt and oil for this recipe.
Adding sooji and refined flour is optional in this recipe, but we recommend that you do add them to make Nippattu extra crispy and crunchy.
Nippattu is best served with a hot beverage like tea or coffee. With its crunchy texture and scrumptious flavours, Nippattu will become one of your favourites sancks for sure.
To add more flavour to the dish, many people add grated coconut, coriander leaves and even butter to the recipe. Be it kids or adults, everyone will love this snack for sure.

INGREDIENTS OF NIPPATTU
10 Servings
1/2 cup roasted peanuts
1/2 cup roasted chana dal
2 cup rice flour
2 tablespoon refined flour
1/4 cup semolina
2 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 tablespoon cumin seeds
1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
2 stalks curry leaves
salt as required
refined oil as required
1/2 tablespoon red chilli powder
HOW TO MAKE NIPPATTU
Step 1 / 7 Grind Peanuts And Dal
In a blender, add roasted peanuts and dal. Grind to form a coarse mixture.
Step 2 / 7 Mix The Ingredients
Add the coarse mixture to a bowl. Now add rice flour, refined flour, sooji, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, red chilli powder and salt as per taste. Give the dry ingredients a mix.
Step 3 / 7 Add Hot Oil
Heat 2 tbsp oil. Once hot, pour the hot oil on the dry ingredients. Mix well. Now use your hands to make a crumbly flour.
Step 4 / 7 Knead To Form A Dough
Now add 1/4 cup of water to the flour. Knead with your hands. Add water in batches and keep kneading till a smooth and soft dough is formed.
Step 5 / 7 Make Small Discs
Pinch out small balls from the dough and flatten them to form small discs.
Step 6 / 7 Fry The Discs
Heat sufficient oil in a pan. Drop the discs into the pan and fry from both sides until golden in colour.
Step 7 / 7 Ready To Be Served
Nippattu is now ready to be served. Pair up with a piping hot cup of tea and enjoy.
