Ingredients of Masoor Dal Vada
4 Servings
1 cup masoor dal
2 green chilli
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 sliced onion
4 tablespoon mustard oil
4 garlic
1 inch ginger
1 teaspoon cumin powder
salt as required
2 tablespoon coriander leaves
Step 1 Soak masoor dal
Wash masoor dal 3-4 times and then soak it in a bowl of water. Let it stay soaked for about an hour.
Step 2 Make a dal paste
Drain the water and add masoor dal to a blender. Add garlic cloves, ginger, green chillies along with a little bit of water. Blend well to make a thick and smooth dal paste.
Step 3 Slice the onion
Now slice the onions into thin and long slices.
Step 4 Season the dal mixture
Take out the dal paste into a bowl. Add salt, black pepper powder, cumin powder, chopped coriander leaves and mix well. Also mix in sliced onions.
Step 5 Fry the dal vadas
Heat mustard oil in a non-stick pan. Now scoop out some dal mixture using a spoon and drop it into the pan. Gently, press it down but don't flatten it much. The vada should still retain its circular shape. Shallow fry all the vadas from both sides until golden brown in colour and crispy in texture.
Step 6 Ready to be served
Your scrumptious Masoor Dal Vadas are now ready to be served. Enjoy!
