India's daily Covid-19 count has decreased for the second day in a row. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the country observed a drop in daily infections on Tuesday (January 18), with 2,38,018 new Covid-19 cases registered in the previous 24 hours. The number of new illnesses was 20,071 fewer than on Monday.

With the addition of new infections, the active caseload in the country has risen to 17,36,628, accounting for 4.62 percent of all cases reported thus far. The daily rate of optimism is 14.43 percent, while the weekly rate is 14.92 percent. Meanwhile, the number of people infected with Omicron has grown to 8,891 across the country, up 8.31% from Monday.

In the last 24 hours, 1,57,421 patients have been rehabilitated, bringing the total to 3,53,94,882. As a result, India's recovery rate is 94.09 percent. However, 310 people have died as a result of the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of persons who have died to 4,86,761. In the previous 24 hours, 16,49,143 tests for the presence of the virus have been performed. So far, the country has done 70.54 crore tests since the outbreak of the epidemic.

Meanwhile, over 158.04 crore vaccine doses have been provided as part of the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination campaign. On Sunday, India's vaccination push celebrated its one-year anniversary.
