Renowned for his opulent hues, groundbreaking designs, and impeccable tailoring, Van Noten emerged as a prominent figure alongside the Antwerp Six, a group of avant-garde designers who honed their craft at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp during the 1980s.

This cohort also featured bold creatives like Walter Van Beirendonck and Ann Demeulemeester.

Van Noten assured that a successor would be named in due course, with his studio team overseeing the upcoming womenswear collection.

Despite not attaining household name status, Van Noten commands immense respect within the fashion realm, often referred to simply as DVN.

Hailing from a lineage of tailors, Van Noten initially ventured into freelance work before establishing his eponymous menswear line in 1986.

His contributions to fashion were duly recognized, clinching the International Designer of the Year Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2008, and commemorating his 100th fashion show in 2017.
