Confident to produce good spinners in the 10 days camp at Baroda
Baroda Cricket Association is looking forward to improve the quality of its spin bowlers through expert guidance from legendary Leg Spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan. The legendary Leg Spinner of India has arrived in Baroda on the special invitation by Baroda Cricket Association to train spinners of Baroda of all age groups.
After four days of training the legendary spinner seems to be impress with the local talent and shows his confidence in the bowlers. “We give training to around 40 players of U14, 16, 19, 23 and Ranji which also include girls. I done the video analysis and in the 10 days camp will focus on their style of bowling. Some needs technical improvement and we teach them about the mental approach towards the match and also concentrate on the physical drills,” said Sivaramakrishnan.
He felt nostalgic and remember the year 1998 when he play Ranji match here in Vadodara. Specking about the camp he said the aim is to produce good spinners in every age group and fine tune them to grab the opportunities. He is confident enough about good spinners coming out from this camp.
Asking about Vadodara player Krunal Pandya as a spin bowler and not included in the Indian team touring Australia, the legendary cricketer termed him as a batting all rounder.
He said it’s all about the captain’s requirement from his bowlers and Virat Kohli has confidence in Yajuvendra Chahal who is a pure leg spin bowler and both plays together. As far as Krunal is concerned he has to bowl atleast four overs in a match to call as a spin bowler. Presently for him he is a batting all rounder.
L Sivaramakrishnan shall stay in Baroda to observe all the spin bowlers, guide them and suggest corrective measures to improve upon the effectiveness of bowlers.
