Karmbhoomi to Janmabhoomi cycle expedition by NCC

To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, NCC Group HQ, Ahmedabad under the aegis of NCC Directorate Gujarat, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Diu & Daman will undertake a cycle expedition from Dandi (Karmbhoomi) to Porbandar (Janmbhoomi).

The aim of the expedition is to rekindle and refresh the Gandhian Philosophy among the youth and denizens of the state and also to give an opportunity to the cadets to visit the Janmabhoomi and Karmabhoomi of the Mahatma. The expedition intends to rejuvenate these young minds and populace with the Gandhian principles who will then serve as ambassadors and carry the message forward to the masses.

The expedition will commence from National Salt Satyagraha Memorial, Dandi on 19 Sep and culminate at KirtiMandir, Porbandar on 29 Sep 2019 with a grand ceremony. The expedition will be undertaken by Colonel Damodaran P, Commanding Officer 9 Gujarat Battalion NCC, Ahmedabad, Lieutenant Urvashi Sharma and five Girl cadets and six Boy cadets who will cover a distance of 800 Kms, cycling almost 75-80 kms every day for 11 days.

The route being followed by the expedition is Dandi, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodra, Nadiad, Ahmedabad, Viramgam, Surendranagar, Chotila, Rajkot, Dhoraji and Porbandar.

Hundreds of NCC Cadets and civilian cyclists will also join the expedition at each location and support the cyclist. The Cycle expedition will transit through Ahmedabad on 23 Sep 19 and will be flagged in at the Sabarmati Ashram to pay homage to the Mahatma.
